Vastgoed Verhuurmakelaardij is a company that specializes in renting out houses. Like any business in the real estate sector, it also needed a website to present itself online to potential clients. Together with the team, we set up the website within two weeks.

The website was developed using React, a popular JavaScript framework for building web applications. The website communicates with the company's backend through an API (Application Programming Interface) made with Flask, a micro web framework for Python. This API ensures the website has access to the housing data stored in the Realworks platform by Vastgoed Verhuurmakelaardij.

To ensure that only authorized users have access to the data, we use an authentication system. This system ensures that only certain users, who are approved by the company, have access to the data. The data is retrieved in the form of JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), a standard for exchanging data between different systems.

Our goal was to use a serverless architecture, which means we would use AWS Lambda, a service from Amazon Web Services. AWS Lambda would provide automatic scaling during busier periods and scale down when it is quieter, which would help save costs. Unfortunately, there are certain limitations in the Realworks platform that forced us to opt for a separate server as the backend.
